De Vere Tortworth Court Wedding Photographer – Claire and Martyn’s Day

Ask any Cotswold wedding photographer and they’ll tell you that getting to capture wedding photography at De Vere Tortworth Court is a dream booking. Claire and Martyn chose a magnificent location for their autumn wedding. But I’ll get back to all the reasons why I always love returning to be a De Vere Tortworth Court wedding photographer later. Let’s start at the beginning of Claire and Martyn’s day.

On the day, I got there early to catch up with Claire and her bridal party who were getting ready in Tortworth Court’s stunning Kipling Suite. Which was so spacious even with Claire, her bridesmaids, her parents, her hairstylist and make-up artist and three utterly gorgeous flower girls in it!

I also caught up with Martyn and his grooms party who were getting ready in a second suite at Tortworth Court and partaking in a quick dram to quell any last-minute nerves.

Claire looked stunning in a beautiful lace detail dress with a plunge v neckline and a floaty layered skirt giving her a classic yet dreamy look that really suited her and the elegance of the venue. Her hair was gorgeously styled with a veil attached to the back and she had a beautiful bouquet. Bridesmaids wore elegant navy halter neck dresses and the flower girls wore pink dresses with white cardigans.

Martyn looked very smart in a blue three-piece suit with a pink tie with his groom’s party wore smart grey suits.

Experienced De Vere Tortworth Court wedding photographer

Now can I talk a bit about why I love being a De Vere Tortworth Court wedding photographer? De Vere Tortworth Court is a historic manor house located in the South Cotswolds that is simply awe-inspiring. Recorded in the doomsday book the house and estate today have undergone a multi-million-pound restoration making it a stunning wedding venue that combines old world charm with modern luxury.

The wedding ceremony was held in Tortworth Court’s grand conservatory. This majestic Victorian glasshouse has to be seen to be believed. Built in 1874 it has an ornamental glass ceiling and windows that flood the space with an abundance of natural light. Us Cotswold wedding photographers do love our natural light!

The conservatory is so stunning it needs little adornment. Claire and Martyn just added flowers and candles and said their vows under a pretty flowered arch.

After a beautiful ceremony everybody headed outside for a fun confetti moment and some group images of the wedding party before heading indoors for a drinks and canapes reception in the stylish and luxurious bar.

With guests happily catered for, I quickly whisked Claire and Martyn away for a few minutes for a mini photoshoot around the stunning gardens and grounds of Tortworth Court. It was a sunny October day and I got some really lovely images.

Storytelling wedding photography at De Vere Tortworth Court

The BBC were filming at Tortworth Court on the day and we did a bit of celebrity spotting. We met the lovely Sarah Davies from Dragons Den who was keen to offer her congratulations to Claire and Martyn. She was lovely.

The wedding reception was held back in the orangery, and it had been dressed exquisitely for the occasion with tables of white linen with candles and beautiful floral arrangements. It was so elegant. Speeches were before the food which is always a good idea and were really personal and heartfelt, especially Claire’s speech.

After a sumptuous wedding breakfast, I headed back outside with the wedding party to get some fun group images them. Everybody was so much fun.

Evening celebrations started with an amazing firework display, followed by a sparkler serenade. I love fireworks at weddings, they bring an extra layer of magic and joy and make for amazing images.

Creative and Natural Cotswold Wedding photography

This was followed by the cutting of the most delicious looking cake followed by a romantic first dance. The Orangery lit up at night is simply stunning. Hundreds of fairy lights light up the glass ceiling and then hundreds of stars beyond. Claire, Martyn and their lucky guests were literally partying under the stars.

The live band who’d accompanied Claire and Martyn in their first dance were there to get the party started. Not that anybody needed much coaxing. This lot were definitely up for a party and I got some great dancefloor images. With the party in full swing, it was time for me to take my leave.

As I was leaving, I took Claire and Martyn to the door with me to get one last image of them stood by the grand doors of the house all lit up for the party. It was the perfect image to close the story of their gorgeous wedding day.

I had the best time capturing Claire and Martyn’s wedding at Tortworth Court. A fantastic wedding for a lovely couple at a truly stunning wedding venue. Congratulations to Claire and Martyn for getting married and thank you for having me there to tell the story of it. I loved it!
