crowcombe court Wedding Photographer - emily and joao

This was a short wedding where I covered the getting ready up until the portrait shots. Two of the best things about being a South West wedding photographer is getting to meet and work with lovely couples like Emily and Joao and getting to return to be a Crowcombe Court wedding photographer. Emily and Joao chose the perfect venue for their summer wedding in Somerset. But I’ll get back to all the reasons why I love capturing wedding photography at Crowcombe Court later. Let’s start at the beginning of Emily and Joao’s day.

On the day, I caught up with Emily who was getting ready in the Crowcombe Court’s palatial bridal suite. Large and airy with full length tables and mirrors it was the perfect location to capture those all-important bridal prep images. The bridal party were in high spirits, and we got some great images (loved the co-ordinated robes girls!)

Whilst the girls got ready the groom and his grooms party enjoyed a game of snooker downstairs. It was great to see the guys relax and enjoy exclusive use of the house. The younger groomsmen even found time for a game of Cluedo!

Emily and Joao are Brazilian and in Brazil it is traditional to get married young. So, Emily and Joao had to get consent from both sets of parents for the wedding to take place. The wedding was a small celebration of just family and a few friends and it was lovely to see the two families coming together for the celebration.

Emily looked amazing in a traditional dress with a ballgown skirt that gave her a magical fairy-tale bride look and perfectly suited the grandeur of Crowcombe Court. It had an off the shoulder neckline and a full train that made Emily’s entrance down the impressive staircase and across the checkerboard marble floor of the Great Hall really dramatic.

Joao looked very smart in a dark blue suit with a gold bow tie. His grooms party looked very smart in light grey suits and the bridesmaids looked stunning in gold. Everybody at Emily and Joao’s wedding looked amazing and were so photogenic (making the job of this South West wedding photographer so much easier!) The youngest bridesmaids and groomsmen were so sweet and performed their duties perfectly.

Great, now I get to talk more about why I always love returning to be a Crowcombe Court wedding photographer. It’s because of the Manor House’s stunning period features indoors and its beautiful gardens and grounds outside that enjoy views over the impressive Quantock Hills.

Emily and Joao’s wedding was held in The Great Hall. Its intricate original Italian plasterwork, large antique mirrors, chandeliered ceiling and feature fireplace make for a grand and luxurious backdrop for a wedding ceremony. Some period French doors lead straight out onto the garden with views of the Quantock Hills and two further large feature windows throw tons of light into the room that I play with to create even more beautiful images. If there’s one thing us South West wedding photographers love it’s any additional natural light!

The ceremony was incredibly beautiful. After the official part of the ceremony was done all the women placed on lace headscarves and began to pray with Emily becoming quite emotional during the prayers. The image of Emily and Joáo kneeling down praying with all the family knelt down praying behind them was my favourite of the day. Here, take a look!

Emily and Joao’s wedding really suited our style of documentary wedding photography, as we like to tell the story of weddings naturally as they unfold.

After the lovely ceremony, Emily and Joao cut their wedding cake and everybody enjoyed a drinks reception before heading outside for a fun confetti moment which I captured perfectly. Here, take a look!

We then took some great group images of the wedding party and as Emily and Joao’s guests happily drank and mingled, we quickly whisked them away for a few minutes for a mini photoshoot in the gardens and grounds of Crowcombe Court.

The images we got of them were just gorgeous. The ones taken beside the flowerbeds and of Joao lifting Emily are amongst our favourites. Here, take a look!

We had the best time capturing Emily and Joao’s beautiful wedding at Crowcombe Court. A gorgeous family friendly wedding at a stunning location. Congratulations to both of you. We hope our images will allow you to relive your day again and again for many years to come.
