Two of the best things about being a Cardiff wedding photographer is getting to work with lovely couples like Sally and Josh and getting to capture wedding photography at Cefn Tilla Court. These guys chose the perfect venue for their summer wedding.
Cefn Tilla Court is a stunning Grade II listed country estate in the village of Llandenny in the heart of the stunning Monmouthshire countryside. Despite having captured wedding photography at Cefn Tilla Court several times before, the first glimpse of the house when I arrive never fails to take my breath away. Enchanting gardens, extensive parklands, stunning interiors, a rich history and exclusive are just some of the features that make Cefn Tilla Court a real favourite with Cardiff wedding photographers.
On the day I got there early to catch up with Sally and her bridal party who were getting ready in Cefn Tilla’s gorgeous bridal suite. I was keen to capture those all-important bridal prep images. Sally and her bridal party were really excited for the day and were mostly on good form (though there were a few sore heads from some last-minute celebrating the night before!)
I had met many of the bridal party already having captured one of the bridesmaids weddings a few weeks before. I get a lot of my work through recommendations in this way which is great as I get to see my lovely clients again and I’m always greeted like an old friend. I also find that when I’m a familiar face at weddings guests relax more around me and that ensures even more authentic images.
Experienced Cefn Tilla Court photographer
June weddings can usually rely on good weather but it was a cloudy and slightly rainy day. We just got the umbrellas out and cracked on. The weather did nothing to dampen anybody’s spirits and Cefn Tilla Court is such a gorgeous venue that the weather really can’t spoil it.
Sally looked stunning in her lace detail dress that had a sweetheart neckline and off the shoulder sleeves. It skimmed her hourglass figure perfectly giving her an amazing silhouette in all of my images. She totally beamed all day (us Cardiff wedding photographers do love a smiley bride) and looked so utterly comfortable. The bridal party wore gorgeous lilac dresses and suits. They all looked amazing.
Now, I don’t want to miss Josh out, he looked very handsome in a white tux jacket with a petrol blue waistcoat and trousers and bow tie. His grooms party wore petrol blue three-piece suits. Everybody looked so smart.
The wedding ceremony was held in Cefn Tilla Court’s Great Hall. A beautiful room with wood panelling and lots of period features. The ceiling to floor windows flood the room with tons of natural light and overlook the ornamental lily pond. It really is the perfect space for an elegant wedding ceremony. Sally was walked down the aisle by her dad.
Storytelling wedding photography at Cefn Tilla Court
After a lovely ceremony, Sally and Josh walked back down the aisle and there was a fun confetti moment before everybody enjoyed a drinks reception outside in the courtyard and gardens. I took my chance to get some great group and candid images of everybody enjoying themselves. Sally and Josh were very clear that they didn’t want posed photographs. Documentary photography really suits my style as I love just telling the story of weddings naturally as they unfold and Sally and Josh’s wedding was so fun and so full of love and laughter, that it was a joy to capture.
Sally and Josh opted for a marquee reception at Cefn Tilla Court and were welcomed to it rapturously by their guests. Everybody enjoyed a delicious wedding meal before the speeches which were a delight and had everybody in stitches.
When it came to throwing a party Sally and Josh thought of everything. And to say that they and their guests were up for a party would be an understatement. There was a very popular rodeo sheep that saw one guests literally split his trousers. There was a 360-degree photobooth (who doesn’t love a photobooth) and a live band that saw Sally crowd surfing. I think crowd surfing brides should be more of a thing. If there’s a day to do it, then surely that day is your wedding day!
And it was the image of everybody letting it all go on the dancefloor that I chose as the perfect image to close the story of their wedding day.
A super fun wedding for a great couple. Congratulations to Sally and Josh for getting married and creating such an amazing day for yourselves and your family and friends to remember. And thanks for having me there to tell the story of it. I loved it!
I'll leave you with a review from Sally & Josh: Keri was perfect from booking through to our photos.
We specifically wanted candid photos and no set up shots. Not only did he nail this, but the photos almost look set up because they are so perfect.
Keri made everything easy, and was a pleasure to deal with and it was lovely having him be a part of our big day.
My engaged friends loved him and his photos so much that they have all booked him for their big days too!
On top of that Keri was the most reasonably priced person I came across, there was no upselling or any small print about how many photos were allowed. I couldn’t recommended him enough.
